New NRNA - USA - Oregon Chapter Committee Announced

Portland, Sept 10 (Nepal Oregon News): Noted taekwondo instructor and entrepreneur Shuddhodan Ranjit has been unanimously elected as the president of Oregon Chapter of Non-resident Nepali Association (NRNA) - USA. Ranjit is also the former president of Nepali Association of Oregon (NAO).
It was disclosed at a meeting held here in Portland on Tuesday, Sept 9, 2025. The meeting greeted Ranjit as the new president of the Oregon chapter and also formed the new executive committee with assigned positions.
During the meeting, discussions were zeroed in on NRNA bylaws vs Oregon NRNA chapter statutes and how to align it. Deliberations were made about membership drive, about doubling membership and about reimbursement/donation support for those who are in need of financial help.
The meeting not only reviewed the president's agenda for the upcoming term, it also agreed to organize a gathering for the outgoing and incoming teams to recognize contributions and celebrate new leadership.
Speaking briefly at the meeting, newly elected president Ranjit said that the Oregon chapter needs better strategy to address community needs.
While underscoring the need of harmony and congenial atmosphere in the community, Ranjit emphasized NRNA - Oregon committee's role as important in promoting diversity, culture and traditions of the community.
Meanwhile, Raju Mali and Nileema Ozha have been elected vice presidents of the NRNA - USA - Oregon chapter. Mali is also the founder president of NAO whereas Ms Ozha was secretary of the Oregon chapter in the previous committee.
Likewise, noted chef and author of the book "The Mystic Kitchens of Nepal" Bikram Vaidya has been elected to the General Secretary while Birendra Thapa is voted unopposed as the treasurer of the NRNA -USA - Oregon's committee.
Prajwal Ratna Vajracharya, who is the co-founder of Nritya Mandala Mahavihara, the only Newar Buddhist monastery in USA, has been elected as the cultural - spiritual director of the NRNA Oregon branch.
Noted taekwondo instructor Bidhan Lama has been offered the role of Sports Director. Sanad Thapa takes charge as the youth coordinator. Similarly, Dr Rabin Man Shakya, a Nepali journalist in USA, will assume the role of media director at Oregon's NRNA committee.
Amod Chhetri, Padam Thapa, Dinesh Thapa and Suraj Parajuli are elected unopposed to the board of directors.
According to Bikram Vaidya, the newly elected General Secretary, the meeting decided to create more community events and resources, such as, the information center and dashboard, domestic violence support, business support and networking opportunities, general resources for community issues, focus on cultural preservation and youth engagement, with the objective of guiding youth in Nepali values, heritage and love for our country.
Vaidya added that the meeting decided to recognize community members, newcomers, business and leaders for their contributions.
Likewise, a decision was also made to hold a candle-light vigil at Nritya Mandala Mahavihara in Portland in the evening on Saturday, Sept 13, 2025 to pay tributes to lives lost during the recent Gen Z movement in Nepal.

Rabin Man Shakya, a Nepali journalist in Portland, USA, has recently been elected Media Director of NRNA USA Oregon chapter. Shakya is a Sangha Member of the Nritya Mandala Mahavihara in Portland and also a Life Member of World Newah Organization (WNO).
